Mixed reality (XR) has shown promising use cases in the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industries. In the future, the use of augmented reality headsets on a construction site could drive coordination efficiency (think framing, painting, layouts), facilitate training and remote assistance, and improve construction-site safety. For engineers and architects, it provides potential to see design options take shape in real-world environments for evaluation (think generative design) using multiple sources of data (simulations, renders, etc). At the Autodesk Technology Centers, we have a real interest in exploring Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), and how XR will play a role in the future of architecture, construction, and manufacturing.

DUE DATE: August 24th, 2020

OBJECTIVE:
Propose a mixed reality solution for designers, engineers, and/or front-line workers in the architecture, construction, or manufacturing space. We are interested in reviewing proposals that create opportunity for significant improvements in efficiency or sustainability.

The proposals must be built on the HoloLens 2 and fit one of the following project categories:

• Use Unity and MRTK 2.x
• Use Unreal and UX Tools for Unreal plugin
• Use WebXR via Firefox Realities

While preference will be given to proposals in one of the above project categories, we are open to reviewing submissions utilizing different development platforms if they offer advantages.
