Ground Works, a2ru's online peer-reviewed platform for arts-integrative research, announces a call for submissions to a special themed issue. With this issue, we ask: What are the elements necessary to create a vibrant ecology of research where art and design inquiry may flourish alongside, within, and out of social and physical science research that is so deeply embedded in research-oriented universities? We invite submissions that deepen our understanding of institutional, social, and epistemological systems that effectively weave arts-based inquiry into the scholarly fabric of research. Submissions should include concrete examples of the system or ecology in question as well as analysis or explication.

Ground Works encourages a wide array of submission types that incorporate multimedia to tell the story of a vibrant ecology of research. The first step for submission to Ground Works is a short abstract and links to evidence of impact. All submissions must be received and flagged for consideration in this special issue by Friday, February 26, 2021.

The Ground Works general call for submissions is open on a rolling basis.
