Sebastián Basterrech obtained a PhD in Computer Science in November 2012 from the University of Rennes I, Bretagne, France. During 2009–2012 he was a doctoral student fellowship of the “Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et en Automatique" (INRIA), France. He received a MA in Computer Arts (“Arts et technologies numériques”) at the University of Rennes II, Bretagne, France. In addition, he received a MSc in Applied Mathematics in 2008 from the Aix-Marseille, France.
From June 2013 through December 2015, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the National Supercomputing Center in Czech Republic. Currently, he is part of the researcher staff of the Computer Department at Faculty of Electrical and Computer Science in the Technical University of Ostrava. S. Basterrech is a TC membership of the International IEEE SMC Soft-Computing Society, as well as referee of several international journals. His main research topics belong to the symbiosis between Art and Science, some of the key fields of his work are: Visual Arts, Bio-Art, Chaos Theory, Numerical Optimization, Neural Computation, Bio-inspired methods, Human-Artificial System Interaction.
