Kasey Rios Asberry is an experience architect, environmental educator and researcher working in the Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco CA and in urban Detroit, MI.

In 2009 Kasey founded the Demonstration Gardens, an environmental literacy and advocacy program on the campus of UC Hastings College of the Law. ThunderPuppets Players is a collaborative storytelling troupe that grew out of this work.  In 2014 Asberry joined the UC Hastings team as a strategic planner to steward the Long Range Campus Plan and develop Sustainable UC Hastings campus and culture. Dance re-emerged as a primary vehicle during 2016 in work with Anna Halprin and with Skywatchers to re-imagine and activate public spaces. In 2016 Kasey also began working with residents in the Dexter-Elmhurst neighborhood of Detroit to help develop a more resilient community. In 2017 the Demonstration Gardens expanded green livelihood training to include parks and gardens throughout the Tenderloin and SOMA neighborhoods of San Francisco. In 2018 at inception of construction of UC Hastings’ Academic Village the legacy collection of the Demonstration Gardens began residency at McCoppin Hub, while continuing to investigate the nature of Commons in urban life.

Previous projects include Workscapes of the Future at Xerox PARC, Leonardo Journal at MITPress, experience architecture at VeriSign, Easel, Bigstep; Technology, Accessibility and Geography research at San Francisco State University. Kasey has worked as a dancer, puppeteer and theatrician for 40 years.

Kasey aspires to promote adventurous learning for people of all ages and abilities, in community and in awareness of the natural world.
