From electric batteries to microbe energy

By Paulina Sierra

The first electric battery invented by Alessandro Volta in the 1800’s seems modest compared to  other complex inventions for the generation, storage and consumption of energy that followed such as power lines, turbines and nuclear power stations.

Our energy consumption seems endless and the anthropocentric devastation it can cause is evident, yet, what if there were other, more mutualistic ways to harvest that power? What would that look like?
