The Opportunity

The Faculty of Information Technology aims to lead global IT research and education. We are seeking a Research Assistant, interested in advancing emerging technologies in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence applied to creative applications, to join our team at SensiLab.

SensiLab is a multi-disciplinary, bespoke research facility dedicated to the future of creative technology, based at Monash’s Caulfield Campus. Jointly supported by the Faculties of Information Technology and Art Design and Architecture (MADA), our work explores the untapped potential of technology, its impacts on society and the possibilities it presents.

Reporting to the SensiLab Director, you will provide research support for the SensiLab Creative AI research team by applying new and emerging AI technologies to creative projects. You’ll also undertake applied software design, implementation and evaluation using SensiLab’s advanced laboratory and technical facilities.

To be considered for this position, you must have an honours degree or doctoral qualifications in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence or Computational Creativity and relevant experience. Applicants with a doctoral qualification will be strongly considered. An established or developing creative practice in music, sound art, visual art, architecture, design or performance is also essential.

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
