The Kavli Institute of Nanoscience Delft (KIND) offers annually talented (multidisciplinary) artists working in the fields of conceptual art, visual art, photography, music, design, dance, film, theatre, and the like an opportunity to work on a project within the international and interdisciplinary academic setting of the Kavli Institute of Nanoscience in Delft. The artist will be invited to come to KIND for a period of about 3 months, in which he/she will have the opportunity to closely interact with the scientists at the institute, join in work discussions and experience lab work. 

About the Artist in Residence Fellowship

The Kavli Institute initiated the Artist in Residence Fellowship to promote the relationship between the arts and sciences and thus find new ways to interact and communicate concerning discoveries about matter on the Nano scale. 

Our expectation is that the Fellowship will result in a piece of art that relates to our Nano science, while we realize that the impact of the presence and interactive participation of the artist in our institute is just as important as the concrete result. We hope that the cross-fertilization between the creative approaches of the artist and our scientists will evoke disruptive new insights, strengthen ties, and trigger novel approaches.
 

Delft, the Netherlands
The Kavli Institute is placed in a town called Delft. Delft is a city and municipality in the province of South Holland in the Netherlands. It is located between Rotterdam and The Hague. Delft is the home city to Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), which is regarded as the center of technological research and development in the Netherlands.

We are now accepting proposals for art projects in our institute.The application process is simple and free of charges.

We accept applications from artists who work in all disciplines and who have a portfolio that exhibit his/her artistic credentials through, for example, (international) prizes, art exhibitions, publications, performances, and the like. 

It is important that you have an academic level of thinking and that you have an affinity to the sciences (preferably Nano science, quantum physics, or life sciences), a research-minded attitude, and excellent communicative skills.
