Sarita Dev (1964) is an artist and researcher, interested in exploring the mechanisms of visual perception. She is trained as an artist at Fine Arts Academy Minerva in Groningen and Rijksakademie in Amsterdam. As she got more and more interested in the way the brain perceives she studied Cognitive Psychology and Word and Image studies at the Free University of Amsterdam.Together with Maurits Kelder she founded DEVART, aiming at bringing together the Science of sound and visual perception, Technology and Art. Their recent work Himalaya’s Head focuses on mismatches between head movements and images on the retina. Himalaya’s Head premiered in 2005 at Waag Society in Amsterdam, after which it was presented at numerous international art festivals and scientific conferences.
