Yiannis Colakides is a practising architect who trained at the Architectural Association (London), the co-founder (with Helene Black) and director of NeMe, a curator, a Peer Reviewer at the Leonardo Abstracts Service since 2007 and a peer reviewer of Leonardo Journal since 2017. His curatorial work in the past 12 years focuses on new media, politically, and socially engaged arts. He is a frequent guest lecturer in universities and cultural institutions in Cyprus, Greece, Turkey, Spain, Germany and Croatia. Since 1994 he is actively engaged in advocating the improvement of the legal rights of cultural workers in Cyprus. His work in 2017 includes the curation of Phenomenological Lightworks exhibition, and with Helene Black, the coordination of the Respublika! events, the Ambiguous bodies: timeless interpretations exhibition and the Monitorial Citizen conference.
