Maribel Hidalgo Urbaneja is the Post-doctoral Research Fellow for Worlding Public Cultures: The Arts and Social Innovation research project at UAL she will be leading an international team of researchers collecting data about museums and university courses worldwide for the project database and website.
She obtained a PhD in Information Studies from the University of Glasgow in 2020. Her doctoral thesis looked at art museums’ online resources such as online exhibitions and publications from the perspectives of narrative theory and the museum-as-text idea. She received a Fine Arts Bachelor’s degree from the University of Granada and a Master’s degree in Publishing, Journalism, and Cultural Management from the University of Rome La Sapienza. Additionally, Maribel has held positions at The Getty, the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., and The Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh. In these institutions, her work was focused on developing digital publications and projects. Her research interests span museum studies, digital art history, and digital publishing.
