Caitlin McMullan

Glasgow,
United Kingdom
Focus area: Body, Self, Design, Video, Film

Caitlin McMullan is an artist, filmmaker and disability advocate, currently working on a commission from GMAC Film. Caitlin works to create new ways of thinking about disability, often in collaboration with other disabled people, filmmakers and designers to do this. She is particularly interested in people's relationship with their bodies and how our bodies can be extended. Within her practice Caitlin is looking to challenge how the disabled body is seen and portrayed.
Caitlin has a multi-faceted approach to her practice, but in recent years has focused her work in both prosthetic design and filmmaking. In 2019 she worked in collaboration on the film Material Bodies, which is a sensual and cinematic look at the relationship between amputees and their limbs and a direct response to Caitlin's research with University College London's, Materials Library. Material Bodies has now been screened at film festivals internationally and is due to be published with NOWNESS later this year.
