Aura Pon is a music technology researcher, oboist, composer, and digital instrumentalist based in Calgary, Canada. She earned a PhD in Music with a specialization in Computational Media Design from the University of Calgary with her thesis “Designing for the Mindbody in Technology-Mediated Music-Making,” supervised by Sheelagh Carpendale and Laurie Radford. She co-invented the patent-pending Womba, a musical instrument for an unborn child, and is a founding member of Sintonia, an organization that offers public experiences combining mindfulness and sound. She also performs regularly as a freelance oboist with the Symphony of the Kootenays, Perfect Cadence Wind Quintet, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, and various other ensembles. Her research and music have been presented in various places in North America, Europe, and Asia.
