The release of De la musique concrète à la musique même was made to coincide with that of the enlarged 1977 reprint of Traité des objets musicaux. The intimate nature of Brunet's intellectual relationship to Schaeffer translates into a felicitous choice of texts, which she introduces with brief if well informed notes. Insofar as it highlights the development of Schaeffer's thinking on sound with carefully selected excerpts, this anthology is unique.
