First Iteration / Generative Systems

Guest Editors: Alan Dorin and Jon McCormack

This project focused on the publication of selected papers presented at the conference "First Iteration: A Conference on Generative Systems in the Electronic Arts," which took place in Melbourne, Australia, 1-3 December 1999. Papers include academic essays on generative art and the software used to create it, writings by artists using generative systems, and technical papers. The project was published in two installments: LEONARDO Vol. 34, No. 3 (June 2001) and Vol. 34, No. 4 (August 2001).
