Fig. 12. Telage, color digital image, 459 x 306 pixels, 1994. This was one of the many images and sounds produced remotely and collaboratively by the group of artists who contributed to the project. Irene Faiguenboim (Recife, Brazil), Gilbertto Prado (Campinas, Brazil) Eduardo Kac (Lexington, Kentucky) and I (São Paulo, Brazil) contributed to Telage and also coordinated the work of more than 30 other artists from our respective cities. Telage combined the transmission of data via telephone with the manipulation of images and sounds in the computer. It explored problems related to long-distance interaction and the transposition of procedures and ideas in collage/dé-collage and montage.
