These images are stills from a video that was made during the installation Human Hubris in Schrattenberg, Austria, in 1997.

For nearly 3 weeks during the installation, snails made their paths on a large Plexiglas window, with each snail spending no more than 24 hours on it. I marked on a map the places where I found the snails, numbered their shells, marked the beginning points of their journeys on the Plexiglas and the points they reached after 1 day's effort. I then made their paths visible with dust and put them back in the places I had found them.
