LASER Talks at Cambridge

Registration is closed for this event
LASER (Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendezvous) is Leonardo/ISAST's international program of evening gatherings that brings artists and scientists together for informal presentations and conversations.

CHAIRS: Satinder Gill and Harriet Loffler

And Cambridge LASER team co-host,  Chryssie Nanou

Presenters: Caroline Nevejan (Amsterdam), Daniela Brill Estrada (Bogotá), Ghislaine Boddington (London), and Pam Burnard (Cambridge).

This discussion launches the Cambridge LASER talks (Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendevouz), where we question the separation and propagation of art and science as distinct categories of knowing and being. The Cambridge LASER asks, 'What is creativity in science and the arts? What is experimental practice in art, science, or philosophy? Where do scientific and artistic attitudes, inquiries, methods overlap? How do they differ and complement each other? Can such understanding help shape our technological, urban and environmental futures?'

We are delighted to be part of the 1st Suratómica Festival of Art and Science Creation, in Bogotá, Colombia. The Festival is a gathering for creation with artists and scientists from around the world. Through talks that disseminate science, art masterclasses, workshops and spaces for dialogue, the festival seeks to spread scientific and artistic thought in the region. Suratomica believes that the union of art and science can foster the creation of more open and equitable social structures, with openess of knowledge and diversity to think about new forms of organisation and alternative ideas about development.

And in the spirit of the New Hall Art Collection, we have an all women panel of leaders and pioneers in the arts, science, and technology nexus.
