Susan Latham will share her moments of amazement at the wild and wondrous knots found in nature and how she integrates science and art in her artistic endeavors, and especially in the creation of fiber knot sculptures and jewelry designs. Latham is a metal and fiber art sculptor with a keen eye for photography, a member of the arts community since 1996. Spurred on by her lifelong attraction to both science and art, she founded and directed The Forum for Science and Art which brought artists and scientists together to explore  the creative process for 14 years. Her work has been represented in various galleries in Santa Fe and Truchas, currently by The Freeman Gallery, 201 Canyon Road, Santa Fe.

Susan received her BS degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Illinois, her masters in art education from Goddard College, thesis,“Science and Art in the Learning Process.” She is now retired from Occupational Therapy, which brought her to Santa Fe and our public school system.

Currently she is a local coordinator and advocate for LEONARDO/ISAST (LEONARDO’s International Society of Arts, Sciences and Technology), a local organizer of LEONARDO Art Science Evening Rendezvous (LASER) gatherings, where artists, scientists and the public meet to present on art/science integrated topics and projects, and the co-founder of SciArt Santa Fe, a non-profit focusing on art and science integration.  http://susanlatham.net
