CYCLING THROUGH MILANKOVITCH: DONA JALUFKA
5 - 7 PM : OPENING RECEPTION
UCLA Art|Sci Gallery & Presentation Space: California NanoSystems Institute, UCLA
Three abstract paintings, conveying heat, spheres, and ice, serve as a metaphor of the cause and effect of climate change and its evolutionary cycles through the millennia. The flowing graphs depict the three main factors of the Milankovitch cycles: Eccentricity, Obliquity, and Precession, as measured during cycles that last up to several hundred thousand years. The music accompanying the animation is called Geophonics - the creation of music based on the geology of the Earth as composed by Dr. Sandro Montanari and Gabriele Rossetti.
