LASER (Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendezvous) is Leonardo/ISAST's international program of evening gatherings that brings artists and scientists together for informal presentations and conversations. //// LASER (Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendezvous) es el programa internacional de reuniones vespertinas de Leonardo / ISAST que congrega a artistas y científicos para presentaciones y conversaciones informales.

LASER TALKS are an outreach project of the arts sciences that have been presented successfully for several years in the United States and Europe. They are part of the community axis of Leonardo ISAST and were founded in 2008 by Piero Scaruffi, and are currently held in more than 30 cities around the world.

LASER TALKS will be the first initiative if this kind in Mexico and in a Spanish-speaking country. Produced by the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana [UAM] within the framework of the Arts, Sciences, Humanities, and Citizenship [ACHC] project.

Free and open to the public, with the LASER TALKS MEX we seek to open a node of discussion and dialogue, in which specialists, creators, and the general public, find a platform of knowledge sharing, around the sciences and the arts within the framework Mexico City.

PARTICIPANTS:

Ryszard W. Kluszczyński
Art and media specialist, writer and curator. Professor of media and cultural studies, Head of the Department of Electronic Media at Lodz University, Poland. Professor at the Lodz Academy of Fine Arts. It investigates the themes of new media arts and cyberculture, theories and practices of contemporary art, avant-garde and transdisciplinary cultural transformations, and recent interactions between art, science, technology, and politics. Artistic Director of the Art and Science Meetings Program at the Center for Contemporary Art in Gdansk (2011-present) and curator of numerous exhibitions within this program. Co-commissioner of the traveling international exhibition United States of Europe (2011-2013). Curator of the Second International Biennial of Contemporary Art "Mediations", Poznan 2010. Chief Curator of Film, Video and Multimedia Arts at the Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw, Poland (1990-2001). Some of his publications are: Augmenting the World. Masaki Fujihata and Hybrid Space-Time Art (2017); Human Traits. Patrick Tresset and the Art of Creative Machines (2016); Guy Ben-Ary: Nervoplastica. Abigail Jara 
Dancer, Choreographer, and Sound Fashion Designer, Member of the FONCA National Art Creators System 2018-2021. The first Mexican choreographer works with robots on stage (2014) and who generates an immersive dualistic work in multiple realities (Sorecer 360° 2017). Collaborates with the Laboratory for development and technological innovation LAIDETEC Mexican robot builders, with which it has developed several projects including TRANSKINESTESIA CYBORG supported by the Program to Support Production and Research in Art and Media 2014-2015 of the CENART Multimedia Center. Since 2001 she's director of the company MUSSE DC and her works have been presented in Spain, Portugal, Argentina, United States, Uruguay, and Mexico. Teacher at the CICO / INBA Choreographic Research Center since 2010 where she teaches the subjects of choreographic composition, stage costume design, movement techniques and is an advisor to degree projects. 

Hernando Ortega
Academic at IIMAS-UNAM since 1999. Technology developer, in the areas of computing, robotics, prosthetics, instrumentation, and automation. It has patents granted in Mexico, US and Canada, a license to private industry, several patent applications in Mexico, as well as PCT, and has registered several works with INDAUTOR. He collaborates in various research groups on topics of robotics, artificial intelligence, security, prosthetics and technological development in general. He coordinates a strong multidisciplinary work team around the development of a robotic arm prosthesis. It is incubating the company LAIDETEC and has the academic group GIDETEC. 

Santiago Negrete Yankelevich
Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom. He studied the Master's degree in Computer Science at the same university and a bachelor's degree in Mathematics at UNAM. He has been a professor of the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM), Cuernavaca campus; Research associate in the Computer Department of IIMAS at UNAM and consultant in software engineering processes, for ten years, in different companies in Mexico and abroad. He is currently an associate professor in the Department of Information Technology of the Division of Communication and Design Sciences at UAM Cuajimalpa.

Member of the National System of Researchers SNI Level I. Honorary Artistic Creator National System of Art Creators SNCA. Member of the art and complexity program of the UNAM-C3 Complexity Science Center. Professor-Researcher-Creator. Las LASER TALKS, son un proyecto de divulgación de las artes · ciencias que se ha presentado durante varios años con éxito en los Estados Unidos y Europa. Forman parte del eje comunidad de Leonardo ISAST y fueron fundadas en 2008 por Piero Scaruffi, y actualmente se realizan en más de 30 ciudades de todo el mundo.

LASER TALKS MEX será la primera iniciativa de este tipo en México -y en un país de habla hispana-. Producida por la Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana [UAM] en el marco del proyecto Artes, Ciencias, Humanidades y Ciudadanía [ACHC].

Gratuitas y abiertas a todo el público, con las LASER TALKS MEX se busca abrir un nodo de discusión y diálogo, en el que especialistas, creadores, y público en general, encuentren una plataforma de intercambio de conocimientos, en torno a las ciencias y las artes en el marco del territorio de la Ciudad de México.

PARTICIPANTES:

Ryszard W. Kluszczyński
Especialista en arte y medios, escritor y curador. Profesor de medios y estudios culturales, Jefe del Departamento de Medios Electrónicos de la Universidad de Lodz, Polonia. Profesor de la Academia de Bellas Artes de Lodz. Investiga los temas de las nuevas artes mediáticas y la cibercultura, las teorías y las prácticas del arte contemporáneo, las transformaciones culturales vanguardistas y transdisciplinarias, y las interacciones recientes entre arte, ciencia, tecnología y política. Director artístico del Programa Reuniones de arte y ciencia en el Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Gdansk (2011-al presente) y curador de numerosas exposiciones dentro de este programa. Co-comisario de la exposición internacional itinerante Estados Unidos de Europa (2011-2013). Curador de la Segunda Bienal Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo "Mediaciones", Poznan 2010. Curador en jefe de Cine, Video y Arte Multimedia en el Centro de Arte Contemporáneo - Castillo Ujazdowski en Varsovia (1990-2001). Algunas de sus publicaciones son: Augmenting the World. Abigail Jara
Bailarina, Coreógrafa y Diseñadora de Modas Sonorense, Miembro del Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte FONCA 2018-2021. Primer coreógrafa mexicana que trabaja con robots en escena (2014) y que genera una obra dancística inmersiva en realidades múltiples (Sorecer 360 2017). Colabora con el Laboratorio de desarrollo e innovación tecnológica LAIDETEC constructores mexicanos de robots, con los cuales ha desarrollado varios proyectos entre ellos TRANSKINESTESIA CYBORG apoyado por el Programa de Apoyo a la Producción e Investigación en Arte y Medios 2014-2015 del Centro Multimedia CENART.  Desde el 2001 es directora de la compañía MUSSE DC y sus obras se han presentado en España, Portugal, Argentina, Estados Unidos, Uruguay y México.  Docente del Centro de Investigación Coreográfica CICO / INBA desde 2010 donde imparte las asignaturas de composición coreográfica, diseño de vestuario escénico, técnicas de movimiento y es asesora de proyectos de titulación.

Hernando Ortega
Académico en el IIMAS-UNAM desde 1999. Desarrollador de tecnología, en las áreas de computación, robótica, protésica, instrumentación y automatización. Cuenta con patentes otorgadas en México, EU y Canadá, una licenciada a la industria privada, varias solicitudes de patentes en México, así como PCT, y ha registrado diversas obras ante INDAUTOR. Colabora en diversos grupos de investigación en temas de robótica, inteligencia
artificial, seguridad, protésica y desarrollo tecnológico en general. Coordina un sólido equipo de trabajo multidisciplinario en torno al desarrollo de una prótesis de brazo robótico. Se encuentra incubando la empresa LAIDETEC y cuenta con el grupo académico GIDETEC.

Santiago Negrete Yankelevich
Doctor en Inteligencia Artificial por la Universidad de Edimburgo, Reino Unido. Estudió la maestría en Informática en la misma universidad y la licenciatura en Matemáticas en la UNAM. Ha sido profesor de cátedra en el Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM), campus Cuernavaca; Investigador asociado en el Departamento de Computación del IIMAS en la UNAM y consultor en procesos de Ingeniería de software, durante diez años, en distintas compañías en México y el extranjero. Actualmente es profesor asociado en el Departamento de Tecnologías de la Información de la División de Ciencias de la Comunicación y Diseño en la UAM Cuajimalpa.
