The Leonardo Book Club is a series activating opportunities for our authors to connect with our readers.

Join SIGGRAPH 2019 art papers chair Everado Reyes and art gallery chair Brittany Ransom for a discussion of the papers and artworks featured in the August issue of Leonardo journal. We will be producing this livestream on Facebook and Zoom for audience discussion and participation.

Everardo Reyes is associate professor in Information and Communication Sciences and codirector of the Master’s in Digital Humanities program at the Université Paris 8—Vincennes-Saint-Denis, France. His research is done in affiliation with Laboratoire Paragraphe and the Cultural Analytics Lab. He investigates relationships between humanities, arts, and social and computer sciences, particularly visual forms within a practical context: graphical interfaces, data visualization, media art, digital text, Web design and hypermedia systems. He has authored, edited and translated several books in digital culture and organized several conferences and exhibitions, including a panel in Mexico City celebrating 40 years of Leonardo in 2008.

Brittany Ransom is an associate professor of Sculpture/4D and Associate Director of the School of Art and at California State University Long Beach. As a member of the faculty of the College of The Arts, she works within the sculpture area and specializes in 3D rapid production, digital fabrication and physical computing/kinetics. Ransom’s studio practice aims to probe the lines between human, animal and environmental relations while exploring emergent technologies. Ransom is the recipient of numerous awards and grants including the competitive ZERO1 American Arts Incubator Fellowship (2019), Los Angeles Clean Tech Incubator Artist In Residence (2019) and the Arctic Circle Research Residency (2014). In 2017 Ransom served as the SIGGRAPH Studio Chair in Los Angeles.
