LASER (Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendezvous) is Leonardo/ISAST's international program of evening gatherings that brings artists and scientists together for informal presentations and conversations.

In our way out can we take a u-turn back to nature? Depicting, coding, investigating, weaving utopian and dystopian scenarios of our engineered dialogues within nature the invited speakers for the LASER talks Fortaleza on June 2019 invite for taking a deep breath and inhale planetary consciousness bringing together perspectives from biological sciences, media arts exploring algorithmic structures, bioart, philosophy, anthropology, architecture and art critique.

FEATURED ARTISTS AND SPEAKERS’ SHORT BIO:

 

André Sier

Non-Human Human Art-Sci Constructs. André Sier works artistically with code and interactive media at s373.net/x studios, where he combines videogames, installations, painting, sculpture, music, mathematics and computation into objects and experiences of electronic arts, merging mythology, interfaces, generative interactive space-time continuums. Awarded artist at The New Art Fest (2017), three times at Lisbon Maker Faire (2014, 15, 16), Bienal de Cerveira (2009) and Jovens Criadores (2006), in the past 21 years has produced objects and serial interactive work that playfully unravel time and space relations, synthesized on electronic substrates, shown at over 27 individual national and international exhibitions. André Sier is an electronic artist trained in sciences, arts, computing, with a degree in philosophy, lecturing in electronic arts, pursuing PhD in technoetic arts.

Marthin Rozo
Visual artist based in Vienna, Austria, where he is a master candidate in Art and Science at the University of Applied Arts. His work revolves around nature and its paradoxical relationship with humanity.

Rozo studied Visual Arts at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia in Bogotá (2010-2016) with a period as a visiting researcher at the University of Art and Media KHM at Cologne in Germany (2015). He worked with the curator José Roca in Flora Arts + Nature: Cultural space in Bogotá. Some of his exhibitions include, ‘We, Animals’ at Meinblau Gallery, Berlin (2015), ‘Rundgang’ at KHM, Cologne (2015), ‘áreas inexactas’ at MAMBO (Museum of Modern Art), Bogotá (2016), ‘Microscopy and Biomimesis’ at the Fundación Gilberto Alzate Avendaño, Bogotá. (2016), ‘Poetics of everyday life, aesthetics of life’ at the Museum of Art at the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University, Bogotá (2016), ‘Florale Transformation’ at Kunstverein Mönchengladbach in’Düsseldorf, Krefeld and Mönchengladbach, Germany, (2017), ‘Ciencia + Arte: una simbiosis mediada’ at La Salle University, Natural History Museum, Bogotá (2017), ‘Open House’ at Universität für Angewandte Kunst Art and Science Master, Vienna.

João Lucas Vieira Nogueira

With a B.A. in Architecture and Urban Planning by the University of Ceará (UFC, 2010) with a Master in Art and Creation from the Complutense University of Madrid (2013) is a Ph.D. candidate in Communication and Semiotics at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC São Paulo). He is a Professor of Architecture Theory and History at the University of Fortaleza (UNIFOR) and at UNIChristus. His research interests are focused on the preservation of material and immaterial historical and cultural heritage.

 

Pedro Boaventura

B.Arch., M.Arch., is an architect and designer, professor in the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Fortaleza. His research interests and incursions in art critique had lead him to become a key contributor to the University’s Cultural Center and recognized art galleries in Fortaleza structuring educational programs and critique sessions for well-known local artists and the public interested in the art scene and production in Ceará.

Gabriel Lima de Aguiar

With a B.A. in Biological Sciences (UFC) and a Master candidate in Ecology and Natural Resources by the University of Ceará (UFC), is a member of the Environmental Management Committee at the same institution, member of the Animal Welfare Commission of the State of Ceará Department of the Environment, and is the vice-president of the EcoBase Institute. Contributes to the debates within the Cocó Ecological Park forum and the SOS Cocó organization and to the Environment Observatory of the PICI UFC Campus. His research interests include social behavior evolution in insects, biogeography of the herpetofauna of Ceará and mastozoological ecology in urban parks.

Andressa Hadig-Haidar

Architect, with B.A. in Architecture and Urban Planning by the University of Fortaleza, is a former member of the CrossLAB research group and art collective collaborating as an instructor in the Workshop ‘Stardust: Pixels as raw data for sonification’ at FILE São Paulo 2017. In her diploma project, Hadig used bioart and electronic art strategies to explore the subtleties of human understanding of the phenomenon of death.
