LASER Chair: Maryam Razi

 

After the first year of hosting LASER Talks in Tehran, now our network has grown and more art and science enthusiasts got to know it as an independent gathering with a focus on art, science, and technology. The third gathering of LASER Talks Tehran will be again in collaboration with TADAEX (Tehran Annual Digital Art Exhibition) addressing different topics from Ethics & AI to Affective Computing to scripting awareness to gamification. LASER Talks Tehran #3 will be on Tue, Nov 13, 2018, at Ava Center, Level +1. 

 

Featured Speakers:

 

Hadi Moradi [Ph.D.] 

Topic: Ethics and AI

Had Moradi is a researcher in the field of robotics and intelligent systems. He has designed several robots inspired by biological creatures. He is also interested in the design and development of intelligent toys and games. In this talk, we will address the status of AI in the contemporary world, its future, and the ethical questions associated with it.

 

 

Reza Khosrowabadi [Ph.D.]

Topic: Affective Computing

Reza Khosrowabadi is an Assistant Professor at the Institute for Cognitive and Brain Sciences, Shahid Beheshti University. In 2012 he completed his Ph.D. degree in the field of computer science (Artificial Intelligence) at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. The focus of his Ph.D. study was on computational modeling of emotion using EEG signal. He is mainly interested in doing research in the field of signal processing specially biosignals such as EEG, ECG, and EMG.

 

 

Alireza Zamani [DDS/MSc]

Topic: Gamification

Alireza Zamani is a Doctor of Dental Surgery with an interest in the field of idea development, gamification, and creativity. Gamification is the application of game design elements and game principles in non-game contexts. In this session, we are going to talk about the significance of games, especially in our contemporary world, and we shall see how games can enhance our living environments, and how gamification projects can be realized. Moreover, we will address the differences between games, serious games (or applied game), and gamification.  

 

 

Mehran Davari [MA]

Topic: Scripting Awareness

 Mehran Davari is an Architect, Researcher, and educator based in Tehran, Iran. With a background in interdisciplinary mathematical/architectural studies, he graduated with a Master degree in Emergent Territories from Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IaaC) in 2013. His research focuses on emerging technologies in design and fabrication, cross-platform knowledge in art and architecture, computational and generative design and interdisciplinary architectural practices.

 

 

Pejman Nowrouzi [Ph.D.]

Topic: Narration

Pejman Nowrouzi holds two doctoral degrees in Microbiology and Educational Planning and Management. He is also an Astronomy teacher and promotes the development of scientific knowledge in Iran. Narration and Idea developing in the transdisciplinary projects is his selected topic for this talk.

 

The 8th edition of TADAEX will be held from Nov 9-16, 2018 in Tehran, Iran.
