João Silveira is a Brazilian dancer with experience of over 4000 career performances on tours around the world. Trained as a pharmacist, he explores art and science in his work. Harvard Research Fellow - Faculty of Arts & Sciences (SEAS), Resident Artscientist at Le Laboratoire Cambridge,  Master of Science Education and Communication Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Founder of the ArteCiencia project, Coordinator of Pint of Science Festival at Rio de Janeiro, Author of the book “Da Ideia ao Aplauso”.

In his lecture, João Silveira will talk about how he creatively collides dance and science. He will present some of his works with dance and science, and present some data of his research on the central questions:  what is the art-science nowadays? Who makes art-science? And how can it affect our lives?

João Silveira é performer, coreógrafo e pesquisador, atualmente Visiting Research Fellow na universidade de Harvard e Resident ArtScientist no Le Laboratoire. Também conhecido como John Gaucho, dança com boleadeiras, é sapateador e diretor de espetáculos e tem na carreira mais 4000 apresentações ao redor do mundo.

PETERMFRIESS is a European artist from Germany and based in Brussels. Being transversal by nature, he combines inspiration from visual arts, music, theatre, dance, new technologies, science and philosophy into conceptual and cooperative digital art. The focus is on the transformation of our society’s evolution into emotional and aesthetic values. He recently participated and showed his work during festivals events such Transnumériques, Territoires numeriques augmentés, Vice-Versa 3.0 (Belgium), Sonar +D (Barcelona), Hack the Brain (Amsterdam, Prague), IoT Week (Lisbon), ARCOLAT (Dominican Republic) and Beijing Media Art Biennal. Besides that, he does video projections for underground music events and runs the event space YIAP in Brussels for experimental music and interactive art.

LUCAS CABRAL, Computer Engineering Department, Federal University of Ceará UFC, is a researcher in signal processing, pattern recognition and machine learning. Parallel to his academic career, he works as a media artist producing animations as data vizualizaion using algorithms, investigating the application of computational theories and complex systems in generative aesthetics.
