We will be addressing their research and work with sound, vibration, and frequencies in relation to healing and ecology.
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
BILL FONTANA // Sound Artist
For the past 50 years Bill Fontana has created installations that use sound as a sculptural medium to interact with and transform our perceptions of visual and architectural settings. His works have been installed in public spaces and museums around the world including San Francisco, New York, Rome, Paris, London, Chicago,Vienna, Berlin, Venice, Sydney,,Tokyo, Barcelona, Linz, Manchester, Istanbul and Abu Dhabi.
GEORGE QUASHA // Artist & Philosopher
George Quasha is an artist, poet, and musician working across mediums to explore principles in common within language, sculpture, drawing, video, sound, installation, and performance. Solo exhibitions of axial stones and axial drawings include the Baumgartner Gallery in New York (Chelsea), the Slought Foundation in Philadelphia, and at the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art at SUNY New Paltz. This work is featured in the published book, Axial Stones: An Art of Precarious Balance, Foreword by Carter Ratcliff (North Atlantic Books: Berkeley, 2006)
CARLO VENTURA // Molecular Biologist
Professor of Molecular Biology at the School of Medicine of the University of Bologna, Italy. He is chief of the National Laboratory of Molecular Biology and Stem Cell Engineering of the National Institute of Biostructures and Biosystems (NIBB - INBB: www.inbb.it)/
In 2010, he founded VID art|science, a transdisciplinary movement of Artists and Scientists exploring the avant-garde of scientific innovation to unravel how Arts may talk to the innermost dynamics of our biology. VID art|science is also dedicated to pursuing and promoting the evolving of a “Third Culture” by facilitating the infinite potential of collaborations between (media) Arts and Sciences
ANNA NACHER // Sound Artist & Theoretician
Associate Professor at the Institute of Audiovisual Arts, Jagiellonian University, Kraków, Poland and a 2019-20 Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence in the Creative Digital Media program at the Winona State University in Winona (MN). Her research interests include digital culture, media art, and e-literature. She is currently collaborating with Victoria Vesna and the Art Sci collective on developing online meditations using her voice and philosophy of acousmatic psychogeography.
