Let’s Light it Up!

The LASER talks Fortaleza this February invites for a conversation around the impacts of human activity in confluence with other factors in altering the spaceship earth’s environment. We will be featuring two Brazilian artists and a researcher in environmental psychology, bringing complementary perspectives from scientific and artistic studies on the transactions and interrelationships between man and the built and natural environments, the dynamics in the exploration of nature and natural resources.

Dr. Walmery Ribeiro (Professor at Universidade Federal Fluminense, Rio de Janeiro)
Walmeri Ribeiro is artist, professor and researcher. She was visiting artist-researcher at Department of

Fine Arts, Concordia University (Montreal|Canadá), associate professor at Universidade Federal

Fluminense | Rio de Janeiro| Brazil. Having background in performance Art and media studies, her interests as artist and researcher is on the relationship between Performance, Media Art and, environmental issues.

Ruy César Campos (B.A. in Media Studies at UNIFOR and Master in Contemporary Poetics at the Federal University of Ceará)
Emerging artist-researcher experimenting with video, performance and installation art, creating works inspired by subjects such as media and network archeology, sensory ethnography, infrastructural and displacement affectivities, ´proposes to comment on two parallel developing art-research projects through references from the field of critical media infrastructure studies, calling attention to two important infrastructure enterprises in Ceará.

Nathalie Guerra Albuquerque (University of Fortaleza)
Architect and researcher whose activities and interests involve studies on prison environments  from the theoretical contributions of the Environmental and Social Psychology, a field that defines the term environment broadly. She will present an update of her recent studies on human-environment interrelations.
