Jon McCormack is a research Professor in the Faculty of Information Technology, an Australian Research Council Future Fellow and director of SensiLab, a bespoke, trans-disciplinary research centre, based at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. A practicing artist, he is the recipient of more than 19 awards for both artistic creativity and technical research, including the Eureka Prize for Innovation in Computer Science, the Lumen Prize for Digital Art (still images). In 2016 he established the practice-based PhD within the Faculty of Information Technology. A first for IT doctoral research in Australia, this innovative form of PhD encourages creative and dynamic projects that make discoveries through making, building and creating.
