Kieran Lyons
Kieran Lyons is an artist who runs the MA and Ba Hons programs in Fine
Art at the University of Wales, Newport. He specializes in interactive
installation although he negotiates other methodologies with relative
ease. In fact his practice is a varied one, addressed to an application
of Marcel Duchamp's formulations on chance that reside in that artist's
'Box of 1914'. Other formulations in the same collection are less sanguine
and the bulk of his time has been spent in attempting to reconcile these
with a less troubled view of the artist. Lyons broke from these activities
in order to complete his Doctorate at the University of Wales, a course
of study that began in 2000 with the CAiiA-STAR program and turns again
on similar themes. His most recent work has been published on the Tate
Gallery Research website 'Tate Papers' in Spring 2006 under the title
'Military Avoidance: Marcel Duchamp and the 'Jura-Paris Road.'
