LEONARDO SPECIAL PROJECT

Art and Biology

Recent developments in modern biology and genetics are going to have large cultural implications -- in fact, in some areas they already have. Artists can and should be in the middle of this discussion, connecting art to biology and genetics in any way that makes sense to them.

With the Leonardo Art and Biology Project, we aim to (1) make visible the work of artists and others interested in the connections between art, biology and genetics by publishing articles, galleries, bibliographies and reviews; (2) make the Leonardo audience more aware of developments in biology and genetics by publishing texts by scientists and biotechnology researchers on current developments; and (3) foster collaboration and contact between artists and researchers in biology and genetics.

Articles and other materials by artists, scientists and others are being published in print in Leonardo on an ongoing basis. Check the journal information area for tables of contents, article titles, abstracts and order information.
