Leonardo/ISAST Committees and Working Groups



Board Committees

ISAST Advisory Board:The International Advisory Board advises the Leonardo/ISAST Governing Board of Directors through periodic reports about the projects and publications of the organization. The Advisory Board also functions to keep project coordinators advised of Governing Board activities.

Executive Committee: The goal of the this committee is to make executive decisions regarding the actions and projects of the organization.


Compensation and Finance Committee: The goal of the this committee is to work on policies to retain high-quality, motivated employees for Leonardo/ISAST. Its duties include reviewing compensation issues and making recommendations to the Board toward this end. Recommendations must be a balance between fiscal limitations and the recognition that a high-quality, motivated staff is essential to producing both the quality and the quantity of Leonardo/ISAST projects.

Publications Committee



World Wide Web Committee: The committee considers issues such as coordination of Leonardo web sites, standards for web sites, short and long term strategies for supporting web sites, conceptualization of relationship of print and electronic publishing.

Book Series Committee: This committee has responsibility for overseeing the development and implementation of the Leonardo Book Series at MIT Press. It is responsible for appointing members of the Editorial Committee for the Book Series and developing the book series publishing plan.


Awards Committee: As part of Leonardo's mission of encouraging the innovative presentation of technology-based arts, Leonardo/ISAST recognizes artists and organizations working with the use of contemporary artistic expression through cash awards given via the Leonardo Awards Program.

Nominations Committee: This committee looks for potential board members who would make positive contributions to LEONARDO/ISAST. Committee members search to have many fields of expertise represented on the board: art, science, marketing, brokerage, business, law, education, history, writing and art criticism. Currently the committee is interested in adding a scientist or engineer to the board, a practicing artist, a skilled grant proposal writer, and philanthropists.
Leonardo HQ Committee: The mission of the Leonardo HQ committee is to develop the strategy and options for the new headquarters of Leonardo at the conclusion of the current lease.
