2008 Nanoconnections Week in Valencia Spain
November 10-14, 2008, Valencia, Spain
Inspired by the NISE Nanodays series, the science divulgation cultural association Piratas de la Ciencia presents the first "Nanoconnections Week", which will be held November 10-14, 2008 in Valencia, Spain.
Every morning, those participating in Universidad Menendez Pelayo seminars will be able to attend theoretical lectures given by international speakers. Art, Science and Philosophy are some of the subjects which explain in some key points the role of the interaction of society with nanotechnology. Victoria Vesna, Julien Knebusch, Laura M. Lechuga, Pau Alsina are some of the invited lectures. This seminar is completed by the wonderful possibility to participate in the design and construction of an art piece, inspired by nanotechnology. Students will be able to participation in the creation of a stained glass window from gold and silver nanoparticle synthesis.
Also, every afternoon the Valencian public can attend open access activities, including the opening of the first Valencian Nano-art exhibition, a nano-related Science Bar, and the possibility to have access to one of the Valencian nanotechnology research centers: Material Science Institute of Valencia University.
The YASMIN Network will be present during these days in the Second Valencian YASMIN meeting, which will be held the afternoon of Monday, November 10th. At that time, Piratas de la Ciencia will have the honor to collaborate with Laboluz people, including Profesor Salomè Cuesta Valera who will be following the YASMIN meeting through the net.
