Partners in the Future of Art | Science
Leonardo Affiliates are top-ranked universities, independent nonprofits and corporations engaged in research and creative activities at the intersection of the arts, sciences and technology.
Affiliates are Leonardo’s strategic partners, valued members of an exclusive international network of innovative institutions and research centers that are leading the advancement of Art|Science.
Affiliates engage with Leonardo’s board, management team and peers in multiple new areas of research, creative work and programs at the forefront of the field that Leonardo launched over 40 years ago.
ALL AFFILIATES have opportunities to:
- Appoint a representative to Affiliate Leadership Council (ALC) and participate in annual ALC conferences and online meetings
Affiliate Leadership Council (in formation) will be the core of Leonardo’s strategy, which seeks to more actively engage with, and foster communication and collaboration among leaders and organizations at the forefront of Leonardo’s global network. The ALC will serve as an interactive forum for Leonardo management and Affiliate leaders to propose new concepts and make recommendations to enhance Leonardo’s support of and services to the Affiliate community and the field of Art|Science.

- Participate in online Leonardo-hosted Affiliate forums and discussion groups
Affiliate-initiated and hosted Art|Science forums and discussion groups provide faculty (and their students) opportunities to present Leonardo officially recognized and promoted topics of interest to Leonardo’s community and the broader Art|Science network.

- Propose and host Leonardo webinars and workshops
Affiliate-initiated and hosted Art|Science webinars and workshops provide faculty (and their students) opportunities to present Leonardo officially recognized and promoted programs on topics of interest to Leonardo’s community and the broader Art|Science network.

- Create Leonardo-hosted online Affiliate profile
Leonardo is creating a space in our Affiliate area (viewable by all visitors to Leonardo’s main website) to recognize and feature information about Affiliates, their programs and faculty, research/creative and event activities, awards and recognition, and introducing the institution.

- Help plan and receive priority consideration to present at 1st biennial Leonardo Conference (inaugural conference projected in 2014)
Affiliates are invited to play key roles in planning Leonardo’s first Biennial Conference, projected to take place in 2014. This major new Leonardo international conference will feature leading Art|Science experts, experimental research projects and prototypes, exhibitions, performances, and numerous presentations, lectures and advanced media environments. Planning will begin with a survey of Affiliates and the greater Art|Science community.

SENIOR AFFILIATES may also:
- Create Affiliate faculty and selected student profiles/portfolios hosted on Leonardo website
Leonardo is creating a space in our Affiliate area (viewable by all visitors to Leonardo’s main website) to recognize and feature information about Affiliates, their programs and faculty, research/creative and event activities, awards and recognition and, for Affiliates that elect to provide it, a brief (less than three-minute) video introducing the institution.

- Nominate faculty members to Leonardo Consulting Group
Leonardo receives requests from corporations, government agencies, academic institutions and nonprofits to connect with one or more interdisciplinary experts. These opportunities will be available to our Senior Affiliate network through a new Leonardo Consulting Group (now in formation). Senior Affiliate institutions will be invited to nominate faculty and Ph.D. candidate/post-doc students to participate in this program.

- Host Affiliate meetings and other Leonardo events
Senior Affiliates will have the opportunity to host the Affiliate Leadership Council meetings and to propose and host other officially recognized Leonardo events on their campuses. Hosts provide meeting space and work with Leonardo management to organize meeting plans, arrange tours of their facilities, and may invite Affiliate representatives to attend exhibition openings, performances, demonstrations, and other related activities.

- Collaborate with Leonardo and Affiliate peers in joint funding and research/creative initiatives
Leonardo welcomes opportunities to pursue collaborative research, creative activities and funding in partnership with Senior Affiliates.

- Nominate one junior faculty member and one graduate student annually to be designated Leonardo Fellow
Each year, Senior Affiliates will be invited to nominate one junior faculty member and one graduate student (MFA or Ph.D.) who demonstrate exceptional ability in and whose research and/or creative work contributes to the advancement of Art|Science.

- Propose/help to develop and be eligible to host new Leonardo programs
Leonardo is developing initial strategies for new programs and activities, some which will be developed in collaboration (including fundraising) with one or more Affiliates. As Leonardo Affiliates, our institutional partners are encouraged to explore and develop proposals for new programs that advance ArtScience with Leonardo’s leadership. We will announce new areas of interest and opportunity to our Affiliates periodically along with information about how Affiliates can express interest and get involved.
