Lynn Hershman, Digital Venus, one in a series of nine works, computer graphics, 40 x 50 in, 1996. The Digital Venus series reflects the history of art, but with digital, plugged-in antibodies. These works---which to date comprise a series of nine images---negate history and show a marked preference for artifice, surveillance and mutability.
